Plettenberg Bay holiday accommodation establishments contact details
The area stated of in the Middle Stone Age. In 1577 Manuel da Perestrello gave its Formosa Bay and In 1778 Governor Joachim van Plettenberg journeyed here and erected a stone pillar to claim the spot for the Dutch East India Company. In the 1820s a farmhouse and inn was built by the Rex family, now part of the Formosa Inn. In the 1860s the place became a center for the timbre trade.
