Sir john Cradock governor of the cape build Cradock. It was build on the banks of the great fish river in 1812. The farm homestead was converted into a jail and other buildings were added as the need arose.
The Dutch Reformed Church was build as a duplicate of St.. Martins in the field in London. Today Cradock produce wool, mohair, beef, Lucerne, dairy and fruit. There are also hot sulfur springs.
